Mahjoub Celebrates Sharjah Chess Title

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- International chess master of Iran, Morteza Mahjoub, won "Master Cup" of Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, Friday night.

During the 11-round chess challenge, the Iranian bagged eight points, said the federation.

Mahjoub fought to a stalemate against Jassem Abdulrahman in the last round.

Two players from Azerbaijan Republic and Shoja'at Qane' tied at No. 2.

Chess players from Iran, the UAE, Azerbaijan, and Russia competed in the Sharjah-based event.
